The Department of Transport has announced details of previously announced review into High Speed 2, prior to a go / no-go decision being taken by the end of the year.
The review will be undertaken in six weeks, and the outcomes will be announced in the Autumn. The review panel, chaired by Doug Oakervee, is being asked to “rigorously examine” all aspects of the project, including options on de-scoping, rephrasing and potentially cancelling the project. Further details of the review can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-announces-independent-review-into-hs2-programme
West Coast Rail 250 is supportive of High Speed 2, and will be updating its position statement at its General Council meeting in October.
