A launch event was held at Euston station today for the new Class 730/2 trains which will enter into public service next week. This is part of a £1 billion investment by London Northwestern and West Midlands Railways in new trains and infrastructure across their network.
The 730/2 are 5-car trains with 406 seats, and will be coupled together on busier services to form 10-car workings. The trains are built by Alstom in Derby, and have a top speed of 110 mph.
The introductory speech by London Northwestern Railway’s managing director Ian McConnell was preceded by entertainment by performers from the hit show Cirque, who also wowed passengers on a special non-stop return trip to Milton Keynes.
