The General Council (open to all members) met on 6 June in Stockport. Presentations were received from the Department for Transport, Transport for the North, Virgin Trains, TransPennine Express and Network Rail. The latter presentation included discussion on the impact of engineering works, especially summer blockades which have a major impact on those parts of the country which have a high level of tourist trade.
The meeting also agreed to give more active to support to High Speed 2, and to develop a new communications strategy around all West Coast Main Line issues.
The next General Council meeting will be held in Conwy on 10 October.
