The latest meeting of the West Coast Main Line All Party Parliamentary Group was held on 26 June at 1 Parliament Street, London, chaired by John Stevenson (MP for Carlisle).
The delay in announcing the outcome of the West Coast Partnership franchise meant that it was not possible to have a presentation from the winning bidder. However, the current operator, Virgin Trains, gave an update on their current operations and future plans. They made MPs aware of the “Transformation of the West Coast Mainline” report which has been published by the Campaign for Better Transport, which highlights the benefits accrued from the major upgrade to the West Coast Main Line which was completed in 2009.
